The amphitheater’s first production, "The Man Who Ran", told the story of Jonah, Jesus, and the great fish. This production ran for 20 years and set the stage for future successes, including "The Elijah Factor", which brought the powerful story of the prophet Elijah to the stage. In 2017, "Damascus Road: Where Saul Becomes Paul, the Greatest Apostle of All Times" debuted, telling the story of Saul’s persecution of the early Church and his conversion on the road to Damascus. This production continues to be a central piece of the amphitheater’s offerings, drawing audiences every summer with its powerful narrative. An Unforgettable Theater Experience Each summer, Picture in Scripture Amphitheater stages an original Biblical production featuring a 60-80 person cast, local actors, exotic live animals, state-of-the-art surround sound, and special effects. The combination of drama, faith, and stunning visuals creates an unforgettable experience. The amphitheater is designed to enhance the spiritual journey of its guests, allowing them to witness Bible stories in a dramatic, immersive setting. A Family-Friendly Atmosphere Picture in Scripture is not just a theater, it is a place for families to gather and make memories. Before the show begins, visitors can enjoy a variety of family-friendly activities such as the petting zoo, where they can interact with Simon the camel, Yancy the yak, and other animals used in the productions. The zoo is open from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on performance nights. Guests can also enjoy a delicious dinner served in the pavilion, with options such as charbroiled hamburgers, grilled chicken, barbecue, and catfish. Meals are served from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and include a drink. The menu offers something for everyone, including a children’s plate with a hamburger, chicken sandwich, or hot dog. With a lifelong passion for the outdoors and a growing eye for the artistic elements of life, I specialize in various types of photography that highlight the natural beauty of the world and the personalities of those within it. My Journey: From Adventure to Art Throughout my younger years, I immersed myself in outdoor activities such as off-road motorcycling, hang gliding, and boating on California’s Monterey Bay. Initially, I saw myself as an adventurer, someone focused on the thrill of the outdoors, rather than an artist. However, as I grew older, I started noticing the light, shapes, and patterns that others around me seemed to overlook. This new awareness led me to discover a passion for photography that I never anticipated. When I moved to Oklahoma and settled on the shores of Grand Lake, I gained the perfect environment for my newfound passion. With 60 miles of pristine freshwater at my doorstep, I regularly took my camera outdoors, capturing nature and wildlife in its endless variety. From that point on, nature and wildlife photography became my calling. Expanding My Lens: People, Homes, and Commercial Photography As I honed my skills, I also discovered the joy of capturing the essence of people. My background in counseling gave me a unique perspective on understanding personalities, allowing me to capture individuals in authentic, expressive ways. This skill set naturally evolved into capturing the beauty of homes and businesses through architectural and real estate photography. In addition to personal portraits and properties, I began to explore telling compelling stories through photos. One of my most beloved projects was The Secret Life of the Grand Lake Pelican, which gained popularity as a photo book. This led to the creation of another book, Jerry Ann’s Place, along with various photo collections paired with music and transitions, creating video-like productions that have been featured on local and national television. What was once a humble hayfield with only a few run-down hangars has transformed into South Grand Lake's vital transportation and economic hub. Today, the South Grand Lake Regional Airport stands as a testament to the hard work, determination, and community support that has turned a simple grass strip into a fully operational, state-of-the-art airport serving both personal and business aviation. Thanks to the contributions of local lake organizations, the town of Ketchum, and the airport's dedicated volunteers, including the Girlfriends of the Airport, the airport has undergone significant upgrades. With the addition of an asphalt runway, the airport now offers full-service facilities for both prop and jet aircraft, meeting the needs of aviators and visitors alike. The airport is a key gateway for travelers looking to visit the Grand Lake area, extending the region’s reach beyond the typical driving radius. By attracting visitors who would otherwise not have considered traveling to the area, the airport is helping to drive economic growth and tourism, with an estimated annual economic impact of $2.5 million. Honey Creek Landing Marina has been Grand Lake’s favorite nautical hub for over 15 years. A full service marina, Honey Creek has over 100 covered slips, ranging from 30 to 60 feet, available for either annual or overnight rentals. We have a pump-out station, 24-hour fueling site with diesel and no-ethanol gas, newly restocked ship store featuring nautical themed items and lake accessories, lounge and renovated bathhouse, and a convenience store. We also offer full service boat repair and sales. We take immense pride in being a pillar of the community, and are dedicated to providing our customers with a safe and enjoyable Grand Lake experience. Brian and Lessie Dickson are the proud and excited new owners of Honey Creek Landing Marina. After boating on Grand Lake for over 20 years, the Dicksons relocated from their home in Wichita, KS, to be full-time Grand Lakers and residents of Grove.
