Honey Creek Landing Marina has been Grand Lake’s favorite nautical hub for over 15 years. A full service marina, Honey Creek has over 100 covered slips, ranging from 30 to 60 feet, available for either annual or overnight rentals. We have a pump-out station, 24-hour fueling site with diesel and no-ethanol gas, newly restocked ship store featuring nautical themed items and lake accessories, lounge and renovated bathhouse, and a convenience store. We also offer full service boat repair and sales. We take immense pride in being a pillar of the community, and are dedicated to providing our customers with a safe and enjoyable Grand Lake experience. Brian and Lessie Dickson are the proud and excited new owners of Honey Creek Landing Marina. After boating on Grand Lake for over 20 years, the Dicksons relocated from their home in Wichita, KS, to be full-time Grand Lakers and residents of Grove. They bring with them their daughter Lily, and two dogs. Brian is an avid entrepreneur and Lessie is a successful business Operations Manager. Combining their unique talents and passion for the lake lifestyle, they are immensely looking forward to making new connections in the area and bringing many improvements to the property. Event Details Held on a delightful Wednesday evening in early March, the Chocolate Affair is hosted by Home of Hope, Vinita’s sweetest event that brings together the community for a night of gastronomic pleasure. Attendees can look forward to a sumptuous selection of chocolate desserts and sweet treats prepared by the finest restaurants, caterers, specialty shops, and wineries from Vinita and the surrounding Grand Lake area. A Sweet Tradition For many years, the Chocolate Affair took place at the Craig County Community Center. However, in 2021, the challenges posed by the pandemic necessitated a change in format. Embracing the spirit of adaptability, the Home of Hope transformed the event into a drive-through experience. This innovative approach not only ensured safety through social distancing but also garnered popularity among attendees. In past years, vendors delighted guests with delicious chocolate samples and an assortment of other tasty treats. For the drive-through event, all delectable sweets and chocolate delights were conveniently assembled into pre-packaged treat bags, allowing ticket holders to savor the experience from the comfort of their own homes. Highlights of the Evening The Chocolate Affair features a plethora of engaging activities beyond the tantalizing chocolate treats. Guests can participate in a silent auction, which has transitioned online since the event became a drive-through format. The event is known for its fun and creative themes, ranging from a whimsical safari to the enchanting world of Willy Wonka. Attendees have enjoyed special surprises over the years, including visits from Willy Wonka himself and even a free double-feature movie screening on one memorable occasion. Supporting a Worthy Cause The Chocolate Affair serves as a vital fundraiser for Home of Hope, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing residential, vocational, and quality-of-life programs for individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities across northeast Oklahoma. The event was launched in 2008 to bolster Home of Hope's programs and operations. Dr. Ralph Richardson, CEO of Home of Hope, emphasizes the significance of contributions to the event: “The support from the Chocolate Affair helps us achieve our mission of promoting choices, independence, and a meaningful life for the individuals we serve. As state and federal funding sources continue to dwindle, events like this are crucial for sustaining our services. The official and annual reopening of Grand Lake, dubbed Welcome Back Weekend for over twenty years, The traditional Poker Run, an event that attracts nearly 400 participants in the event’s inaugural year, remains the backbone of one of the most popular off-season weekends ever unveiled on Oklahoma’s premier lake. What is Welcome Back Weekend? Welcome Back Weekend is an annual event celebrated at Grand Lake, OK. This event was started in March of 1992 by Terry Frost, the previous owner of the Cherokee Yacht Club. The weekend began with a poker run on Saturday and a showing of the hands-on Sunday. Grand Laker Terry Frost and the late Barbara Connor proposed incorporating a Chamber-sponsored “Casino Night,” which became an instant success. Welcome Back Weekend is to get you back on the lake so you can enjoy Grand Lake more of the year. Founded: 1985 Location: 268 West Broadway Avenue, Langley, OK Welcome to the Grand Lake Community Ministry (G.L.C.M.), a dedicated lay organization established in 1985 with the purpose of providing temporary assistance to individuals and families in need. Our mission is to offer help in Christian love, ensuring that assistance is given without any strings attached. In addition to material support, we provide an opportunity for individuals to receive spiritual guidance from ministers of participating churches. Services Offered G.L.C.M. extends its aid through the Blue House, where community members can access various resources: Clothing Assistance: We provide clothing for individuals of all ages, including special items such as layettes for newborns, along with diapers when supplies permit. Food Pantry: Our food pantry is open from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM on Tuesdays and Fridays, where qualifying families receive two bags of both non-perishable and perishable food. Families with more than four members may receive additional items based on their size. Utility Assistance: For those who meet income qualifications, we offer assistance with utility bills. Please note that we do not cover deposits or reconnect fees, and we are currently unable to assist with rent, house payments, telephone services, or fuel. Current Needs We rely on the generosity of our community to keep our services running. We are currently in need of donations, including: For the Food Pantry: Ramen noodles Jelly (any kind) Crackers Peanut butter Canned meats Canned vegetables and fruits Toilet paper For Clothing and Household Supplies: Gently used infant and children's clothing Men's pants (any size) Bed linens and blankets Pots and pans Flatware Towels and washcloths Our Volunteers The Grand Lake Community Ministry is powered by a dedicated team of volunteers who generously donate their time and resources. Their commitment allows us to serve those in need effectively and compassionately.
