Today, the South Grand Lake Regional Airport stands as a testament to the hard work, determination, and community support that has turned a simple grass strip into a fully operational, state-of-the-art airport serving both personal and business aviation. Thanks to the contributions of local lake organizations, the town of Ketchum, and the airport's dedicated volunteers, including the Girlfriends of the Airport, the airport has undergone significant upgrades. With the addition of an asphalt runway, the airport now offers full-service facilities for both prop and jet aircraft, meeting the needs of aviators and visitors alike. The airport is a key gateway for travelers looking to visit the Grand Lake area, extending the region’s reach beyond the typical driving radius. By attracting visitors who would otherwise not have considered traveling to the area, the airport is helping to drive economic growth and tourism, with an estimated annual economic impact of $2.5 million. Founded in 2015, SYNC (Spavinaw Youth & Neighborhood Center) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to the educational, cultural, and social development of the youth in Spavinaw and its surrounding communities. SYNC was established in response to the challenges faced by the town of Spavinaw over the years, with the mission to provide support, resources, and opportunities for the next generation. Our Mission At SYNC, we aim to achieve several key goals: Youth Development: To promote the educational, cultural, physical, and social development of Spavinaw’s youth by offering educational and recreational services based on positive character-building practices. Community Engagement: To encourage community involvement by fostering neighborhood interest and positive relationships, creating an environment where youth and residents can work together to become successful in the Spavinaw community and, when applicable, their tribal communities.
