Founded: 1985 Location: 268 West Broadway Avenue, Langley, OK Welcome to the Grand Lake Community Ministry (G.L.C.M.), a dedicated lay organization established in 1985 with the purpose of providing temporary assistance to individuals and families in need. Our mission is to offer help in Christian love, ensuring that assistance is given without any strings attached. In addition to material support, we provide an opportunity for individuals to receive spiritual guidance from ministers of participating churches. Services Offered G.L.C.M. extends its aid through the Blue House, where community members can access various resources: Clothing Assistance: We provide clothing for individuals of all ages, including special items such as layettes for newborns, along with diapers when supplies permit. Food Pantry: Our food pantry is open from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM on Tuesdays and Fridays, where qualifying families receive two bags of both non-perishable and perishable food. Families with more than four members may receive additional items based on their size. Utility Assistance: For those who meet income qualifications, we offer assistance with utility bills. Please note that we do not cover deposits or reconnect fees, and we are currently unable to assist with rent, house payments, telephone services, or fuel. Current Needs We rely on the generosity of our community to keep our services running. We are a dedicated group of citizens from Miami and surrounding areas who have come together to establish a new shelter for animals in need. Our mission is to provide care, support, and a second chance for pets who find themselves without a home. Through the Miami Animal Alliance, we are committed to making a positive impact on the lives of these animals. Donate to Make a Difference Every contribution counts! Our Services The Miami Animal Alliance offers a variety of services designed to benefit animals and the community, including: Foster Care: We provide a nurturing environment for animals in need through our foster care program. Volunteering Opportunities: We welcome individuals who want to volunteer their time and skills to help animals in our care. No-Kill Rescue: As a no-kill shelter, we are dedicated to saving as many lives as possible. Foster Program: Our foster program allows us to place animals in temporary homes until they are ready for adoption. Transport Services: We assist in transporting animals to their new homes or veterinary appointments. Join us for an unforgettable day at Camp Bandage – Grand Lake, an annual safety camp and kids’ fun fair dedicated to promoting safety awareness through engaging educational activities! Since its inception in 2017, Camp Bandage has taken place at the scenic Grand Lake RV Resort on the beautiful Grand Lake O’ the Cherokees. This free outdoor event is designed to provide essential safety, health, and first aid training for children of all ages, fostering a sense of awareness and responsibility among young participants. A Community Effort Each year, Camp Bandage brings together several groups and organizations from the Grand Lake community, all committed to educating children in a fun and diverse environment. Families can look forward to a day filled with interactive learning experiences and demonstrations on a wide range of safety topics, including: Safe Outdoor Recreation Water Safety Health and First Aid Weather Awareness Fire Safety Injury Prevention Substance Abuse Prevention Meet Your Heroes One of the event’s highlights is the opportunity for children to meet and interact with local first responders, including fire, police, and EMTs. Young attendees can explore a variety of emergency vehicles firsthand, including helicopters, fire trucks, police cars, ambulances, patrol boats, cranes, and a fire boat. Mock Car Crash Demonstration The grand finale of Camp Bandage is an impactful mock car crash demonstration presented by Grand Lake area law enforcement and first responders. This demonstration allows participants to witness, in real-time, how emergency responders conduct rescue efforts. It offers an invaluable opportunity to learn about the procedures and challenges faced by these brave individuals in emergency situations. Fun and Games In addition to numerous safety classes and hands-on demonstrations, Camp Bandage promises a fun-filled atmosphere with activities like karaoke, dancing, and games to keep children entertained throughout the day. Free for All Thanks to the generous support of local sponsors, everything at Camp Bandage is provided free of charge. This includes admission, prizes, hot dogs, and drinks, making it accessible to everyone in the community. Honey Creek Landing Marina has been Grand Lake’s favorite nautical hub for over 15 years. A full service marina, Honey Creek has over 100 covered slips, ranging from 30 to 60 feet, available for either annual or overnight rentals. We have a pump-out station, 24-hour fueling site with diesel and no-ethanol gas, newly restocked ship store featuring nautical themed items and lake accessories, lounge and renovated bathhouse, and a convenience store. We also offer full service boat repair and sales. We take immense pride in being a pillar of the community, and are dedicated to providing our customers with a safe and enjoyable Grand Lake experience. Brian and Lessie Dickson are the proud and excited new owners of Honey Creek Landing Marina. After boating on Grand Lake for over 20 years, the Dicksons relocated from their home in Wichita, KS, to be full-time Grand Lakers and residents of Grove. They bring with them their daughter Lily, and two dogs. Brian is an avid entrepreneur and Lessie is a successful business Operations Manager. Combining their unique talents and passion for the lake lifestyle, they are immensely looking forward to making new connections in the area and bringing many improvements to the property. SYNC was established in response to the challenges faced by the town of Spavinaw over the years, with the mission to provide support, resources, and opportunities for the next generation. Our Mission At SYNC, we aim to achieve several key goals: Youth Development: To promote the educational, cultural, physical, and social development of Spavinaw’s youth by offering educational and recreational services based on positive character-building practices. Community Engagement: To encourage community involvement by fostering neighborhood interest and positive relationships, creating an environment where youth and residents can work together to become successful in the Spavinaw community and, when applicable, their tribal communities. Veteran Support: To offer guidance and assistance to veterans in developing and filing claims, as well as acquiring services from the VA and other organizations that support veterans.
