With over forty years of experience in the machine industry, John Sumner is the proud owner of Sumner Machine Works in Arkansas City, Kansas. His deep roots in Oklahoma and passion for community led him to establish the Big Meat Run over a decade ago as a customer appreciation event. What began with a modest 12 participants has blossomed into a massive gathering that showcases the spirit of Oklahoma and the joy of togetherness.

Pastor Kevin is our lead pastor, known for his engaging teaching style that blends contemporary and traditional approaches, often infused with humor to create a relatable experience. He is deeply passionate about making the Word of God relevant to 21st-century living, ensuring that the teachings resonate with the diverse needs of our congregation. Kevin and Shannon are proud parents of four children: Katie (27), Seth (23), Grady (18), and Olivia (16).
Shannon Baker is not only a devoted pastor's wife but also an ordained pastor with Foursquare. With over 30 years in full-time ministry, she cherishes her role in supporting her husband and nurturing the congregation. Shannon has a passion for cooking, reading, decorating, and organizing. She also enjoys mentoring women through The Home Experience, a program designed to enrich lives and build community connections. Together, the Bakers embrace the joys and challenges of raising their family in a rural community, fostering a sense of belonging for everyone they meet.

Honey Creek Landing Marina
Honey Creek Landing Marina has been Grand Lake’s favorite nautical hub for over 15 years. A full service marina, Honey Creek has over 100 covered slips, ranging from 30 to 60 feet, available for either annual or overnight rentals. We have a pump-out station, 24-hour fueling site with diesel and no-ethanol gas, newly restocked ship store featuring nautical themed items and lake accessories, lounge and renovated bathhouse, and a convenience store. We also offer full service boat repair and sales.
We take immense pride in being a pillar of the community, and are dedicated to providing our customers with a safe and enjoyable Grand Lake experience.
Brian and Lessie Dickson are the proud and excited new owners of Honey Creek Landing Marina. After boating on Grand Lake for over 20 years, the Dicksons relocated from their home in Wichita, KS, to be full-time Grand Lakers and residents of Grove. They bring with them their daughter Lily, and two dogs.
Brian is an avid entrepreneur and Lessie is a successful business Operations Manager. Combining their unique talents and passion for the lake lifestyle, they are immensely looking forward to making new connections in the area and bringing many improvements to the property.
The Dicksons have completely renovated the marina to bring it up to their standards. 98% of the dock was completely redone, and a 24-hour fueling station has been installed. There’s a brand new convenience store, fully stocked ship store, a thoroughly renovated bathhouse and lounge, and many more exciting changes to come.
Brian and Lessie encourage all lake enthusiasts to stop by the marina and meet them in person.

What could be sweeter than spending an evening savoring decadent chocolate desserts while supporting a noble cause? The annual Chocolate Affair offers the perfect opportunity for chocoholics and dessert enthusiasts to indulge in an irresistible array of chocolate delights—all while raising funds for a worthwhile organization.
Event Details
Held on a delightful Wednesday evening in early March, the Chocolate Affair is hosted by Home of Hope, Vinita’s sweetest event that brings together the community for a night of gastronomic pleasure. Attendees can look forward to a sumptuous selection of chocolate desserts and sweet treats prepared by the finest restaurants, caterers, specialty shops, and wineries from Vinita and the surrounding Grand Lake area.
A Sweet Tradition
For many years, the Chocolate Affair took place at the Craig County Community Center. However, in 2021, the challenges posed by the pandemic necessitated a change in format. Embracing the spirit of adaptability, the Home of Hope transformed the event into a drive-through experience. This innovative approach not only ensured safety through social distancing but also garnered popularity among attendees.
In past years, vendors delighted guests with delicious chocolate samples and an assortment of other tasty treats. For the drive-through event, all delectable sweets and chocolate delights were conveniently assembled into pre-packaged treat bags, allowing ticket holders to savor the experience from the comfort of their own homes.
Highlights of the Evening
The Chocolate Affair features a plethora of engaging activities beyond the tantalizing chocolate treats. Guests can participate in a silent auction, which has transitioned online since the event became a drive-through format. The event is known for its fun and creative themes, ranging from a whimsical safari to the enchanting world of Willy Wonka. Attendees have enjoyed special surprises over the years, including visits from Willy Wonka himself and even a free double-feature movie screening on one memorable occasion.
Supporting a Worthy Cause
The Chocolate Affair serves as a vital fundraiser for Home of Hope, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing residential, vocational, and quality-of-life programs for individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities across northeast Oklahoma. The event was launched in 2008 to bolster Home of Hope's programs and operations.
Dr. Ralph Richardson, CEO of Home of Hope, emphasizes the significance of contributions to the event: “The support from the Chocolate Affair helps us achieve our mission of promoting choices, independence, and a meaningful life for the individuals we serve. As state and federal funding sources continue to dwindle, events like this are crucial for sustaining our services. We are incredibly grateful to the vendors and guests who make this event a success.”
About Home of Hope
Established in 1968, Home of Hope, Inc. operates in Vinita, Jay, Miami, Claremore, Grove, and Pryor. The organization serves over 270 individuals with developmental and other disabilities, employing more than 600 staff members to provide high-quality care and support.
