The official and annual reopening of Grand Lake, dubbed Welcome Back Weekend for over twenty years, The traditional Poker Run, an event that attracts nearly 400 participants in the event’s inaugural year, remains the backbone of one of the most popular off-season weekends ever unveiled on Oklahoma’s premier lake. What is Welcome Back Weekend? Welcome Back Weekend is an annual event celebrated at Grand Lake, OK. This event was started in March of 1992 by Terry Frost, the previous owner of the Cherokee Yacht Club. The weekend began with a poker run on Saturday and a showing of the hands-on Sunday. Grand Laker Terry Frost and the late Barbara Connor proposed incorporating a Chamber-sponsored “Casino Night,” which became an instant success. A Vision Realized The concept of Bethesda Free Clinic was envisioned over two years before opening by Dr. Pat Belford, a devoted member of the church. Originally, the plan was to operate at least one Saturday a month, but through God's blessings and the generosity of medical personnel and volunteers, the clinic is proud to be open every Saturday, providing vital services to those in need. Services Provided At Bethesda Free Clinic, we focus on providing quality care for acute illnesses, including: Infections Colds Flu All services are provided completely free of charge, ensuring that everyone has access to the healthcare they need without the burden of financial stress. Important Information Childcare: Please note that the clinic does not provide childcare services. Medications: The clinic does not maintain any medications, including narcotics. Consequently, we do not write prescriptions for controlled substances, narcotics, or pain medications. For your convenience, a list of drugs for which prescriptions will not be written is available at the clinic. Resource Assistance: A Resource Director is available during clinic hours to assist clients in identifying additional services and resources that the clinic may not be able to provide. This includes helping individuals find the necessary support within the community for their specific needs. The airport is a key gateway for travelers looking to visit the Grand Lake area, extending the region’s reach beyond the typical driving radius. By attracting visitors who would otherwise not have considered traveling to the area, the airport is helping to drive economic growth and tourism, with an estimated annual economic impact of $2.5 million.
