My Journey: From Adventure to Art Throughout my younger years, I immersed myself in outdoor activities such as off-road motorcycling, hang gliding, and boating on California’s Monterey Bay. Initially, I saw myself as an adventurer, someone focused on the thrill of the outdoors, rather than an artist. However, as I grew older, I started noticing the light, shapes, and patterns that others around me seemed to overlook. This new awareness led me to discover a passion for photography that I never anticipated. When I moved to Oklahoma and settled on the shores of Grand Lake, I gained the perfect environment for my newfound passion. With 60 miles of pristine freshwater at my doorstep, I regularly took my camera outdoors, capturing nature and wildlife in its endless variety. From that point on, nature and wildlife photography became my calling. Embracing the spirit of adaptability, the Home of Hope transformed the event into a drive-through experience. Today, the South Grand Lake Regional Airport stands as a testament to the hard work, determination, and community support that has turned a simple grass strip into a fully operational, state-of-the-art airport serving both personal and business aviation. Thanks to the contributions of local lake organizations, the town of Ketchum, and the airport's dedicated volunteers, including the Girlfriends of the Airport, the airport has undergone significant upgrades. With the addition of an asphalt runway, the airport now offers full-service facilities for both prop and jet aircraft, meeting the needs of aviators and visitors alike. The airport is a key gateway for travelers looking to visit the Grand Lake area, extending the region’s reach beyond the typical driving radius. By attracting visitors who would otherwise not have considered traveling to the area, the airport is helping to drive economic growth and tourism, with an estimated annual economic impact of $2.5 million.
