RC Livesay Photography

From the vibrant landscapes of Grand Lake to the intricate details of architecture, I have been fortunate to witness and capture the world in ways that celebrate both the grandeur of nature and the subtleties of human connection. With a lifelong passion for the outdoors and a growing eye for the artistic elements of life, I specialize in various types of photography that highlight the natural beauty of the world and the personalities of those within it. My Journey: From Adventure to Art Throughout my younger years, I immersed myself in outdoor activities such as off-road motorcycling, hang gliding, and boating on California’s Monterey Bay. Initially, I saw myself as an adventurer, someone focused on the thrill of the outdoors, rather than an artist. However, as I grew older, I started noticing the light, shapes, and patterns that others around me seemed to overlook. This new awareness led me to discover a passion for photography that I never anticipated. When I moved to Oklahoma and settled on the shores of Grand Lake, I gained the perfect environment for my newfound passion. With 60 miles of pristine freshwater at my doorstep, I regularly took my camera outdoors, capturing nature and wildlife in its endless variety. From that point on, nature and wildlife photography became my calling. Expanding My Lens: People, Homes, and Commercial Photography As I honed my skills, I also discovered the joy of capturing the essence of people. My background in counseling gave me a unique perspective on understanding personalities, allowing me to capture individuals in authentic, expressive ways. This skill set naturally evolved into capturing the beauty of homes and businesses through architectural and real estate photography. In addition to personal portraits and properties, I began to explore telling compelling stories through photos. One of my most beloved projects was The Secret Life of the Grand Lake Pelican, which gained popularity as a photo book. This led to the creation of another book, Jerry Ann’s Place, along with various photo collections paired with music and transitions, creating video-like productions that have been featured on local and national television. Photography Services Today, my work encompasses a variety of photography services, each designed to bring your story, business, or personal moments to life: Nature and Wildlife Photography: Capturing the breathtaking beauty of the outdoors, with prints available in canvas, metal, and ceramic. Architectural & Real Estate Photography: Showcasing homes and businesses with professional photography for listings, brochures, and more. Business Photography: Product shots, photo tours, and website images to bring your business to life. Photo Books: Creating stunning custom photo books that tell your unique story. Video/Proshow Presentations: Combining photography with music and motion to create immersive storytelling. Event Photography: Documenting your special events, from weddings to receptions. Seniors: Capturing your senior’s personality with thoughtful and artistic portraits. Drone Photography and Videography: Taking your photography to new heights with breathtaking aerial shots. Living in Grand Lake of the Cherokees has inspired me to share the natural beauty of this freshwater paradise with others. My photography now graces local and national television, magazines, and newspapers across the country. Through my lens, I aim to communicate the beauty of the world around us. Let me bring your vision to life with professional, artistic, and meaningful photography. Contact me today to schedule a session or learn more about my services! [read more]

Welcome Back Weekend

The official and annual reopening of Grand Lake, dubbed Welcome Back Weekend for over twenty years, The traditional Poker Run, an event that attracts nearly 400 participants in the event’s inaugural year, remains the backbone of one of the most popular off-season weekends ever unveiled on Oklahoma’s premier lake. What is Welcome Back Weekend? Welcome Back Weekend is an annual event celebrated at Grand Lake, OK. This event was started in March of 1992 by Terry Frost, the previous owner of the Cherokee Yacht Club. The weekend began with a poker run on Saturday and a showing of the hands-on Sunday. Grand Laker Terry Frost and the late Barbara Connor proposed incorporating a Chamber-sponsored “Casino Night,” which became an instant success. Welcome Back Weekend is to get you back on the lake so you can enjoy Grand Lake more of the year. The event is not just a party anymore; it has come to signify the beginning of the boating season on Grand Lake. Although Grand Lake is always open to the public... Welcome Back Weekend is the official Celebration of the coming season! [read more]

Specialized Care Located in Oklahoma, Angel’s Pet Funeral Home and Crematory stands out as the only facility in the state entirely dedicated to honoring our four-legged companions. Unlike traditional funeral homes, Angel’s operates independently, ensuring that your beloved pet is treated with the utmost dignity and respect. You can rest easy knowing that every aspect of their care is handled with love. Personalized Services for Unique Grief Understanding that grief is a personal journey, Angel’s offers a range of services to ease the burden during this challenging time. Our services include: Pick-Up and Delivery: We provide convenient pick-up and delivery from your veterinarian's office or your home, making the process as smooth as possible. Viewing Rooms: Our facility features two warm and inviting viewing rooms where families can say goodbye in a comforting atmosphere. Here, you can choose to have your pet euthanized in a peaceful setting, rather than in a sterile veterinarian's office. Memorial Options: Choose from laser-engraved urns or memorial stones to keep your pet’s memory alive. Engraving services are also available for a variety of materials, including leather, metal, and granite. Grief Counseling: We understand the impact of losing a pet and offer monthly grief counseling sessions led by a licensed therapist certified in pet loss therapy. These sessions are held on the second Saturday of each month and provide a supportive space for sharing feelings and memories. It’s Your Choice When the time comes, you have the power to choose how to memorialize your pet. Whether through cremation, burial, or a memorial service, Angel’s will coordinate with any veterinarian to alleviate the stress of this difficult process. Simply inform your vet that you choose Angel’s, and rest assured that both you and your pet will be treated like family. Our Services Pet Crematory: At Angel’s, we offer private cremations for pets of all sizes, conducted with dignity and respect. Our state-of-the-art facility allows families to witness the cremation if they wish. While it’s a difficult subject, we aim to provide a meaningful experience during such times. Cremation fees are based on your pet's weight; please contact us for detailed pricing. Pet Funeral Home & Chapel: Our chapel can accommodate up to 55 people, providing a serene space for memorial services or celebrations of your pet’s life. The chapel is also available for events or meetings, fostering a sense of community during times of sorrow. Grand Lake Bum

June 23 Random Observations of The Grand Lake Bum Summer is here – officially! According to the calendar, it arrived with high temperatures beginning with a “9” last Friday on what is typically referred to as “the longest day of the year.” That’s not true, by the way. I stayed up all day and all night just to make certain. Sure enough, it was the same length as all the other days – 24 hours. FYI. ***** For the second consecutive weekend, there is a concert on the water Saturday. Despite the outrageous wind, last weekend’s Rock the Dock concert in Check-In Bay drew lots of spectators who were as anxious to get on the water as they were to hear great music – and they did both! This weekend is no different. The much anticipated Grand Jam in Duck Creek (in front of Harbors View Marina) is Saturday from noon ‘til 6:00. Let’s hope for a little less water and a little less breeze! ***** Grand Jam isn’t the only event signaling a really busy week on the waters of Grand Lake, though. The High School Fishing World Final and National Championship Fishing Tournament has the lake covered with high school fishing competitors this week. The tournament runs through Saturday, which is the final day. Also on Saturday, amidst the hundreds of boats full of high-schoolers, the Grand Lake Sailing Club hosts a Peanut Regatta with a bunch of sailboats. What could possibly go wrong? ***** Some people are just a lot quicker and better than others with responses to others who complain about things without thinking them through. One of my favorites is a flight attendant for British Airways who received a complaint from a woman who said she was not comfortable with the lack of blinds in a Boeing 747 first class restroom that had a window. “Madam,” said the flight attendant, “If someone is clinging to the side of this aircraft at 35,000 feet, they’ve earned the view.” ***** How did that old Beach Boys song go? “Bomb, bomb, bomb…bomb, bomb Iran.” Was that it? ***** GRAND LAKE BUM SHOUT-OUTS: Happy birthday wishes go out this week to Grand Lakers Jason Benson, Rob Stallings, Angella Johnson, Joe Zaloudek, Terri Fowler, Vic Bird, Dallas Sorrels, Bobbie Owens, Larry Sanders, Tonya Moorhead, John Jameson, and Dandy Risman. ***** BEST GRAND LAKE EVENTS THIS WEEK: Monday-Wednesday is “Kids’ Camp” at The Anchor at Shangri-La (8:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.). Tuesday is the kick-off of the five-day High School Fishing World Final and National Championship Fishing Tournament on Grand Lake. Thursday is Trivia Night” at BOOM at The Regatta. Friday & Saturday, there is “Lawn-a-Thon” inflatable fun for the kids on The Anchor Lawn at Shangri-La (11:00-5:00). Saturday is another Peanut Regatta from Grand Lake Sailing Club and the big Grand Jam on-the-water concert at Safe Harbor Harbors View Marina in Duck Creek (12:00-6:00 p.m.). Saturday night is Country Music Night at Big Shots (9:00 p.m.). Next Wednesday, the holiday fun begins with Vinita Fireworks at Craig County Fairgrounds. ***** RANDY KREHBIEL’S FACTOID OF THE WEEK: Although best remembered as a silversmith (and his midnight ride), Paul Revere also practiced dentistry and fashioned false teeth from various materials. ***** FUN FACT OF THE WEEK: The King Ranch in Texas covers 825,000 acres. It is larger than Rhode Island. ***** ODD FACT OF THE WEEK: William Wrigley, Jr. sold soaps in 1891, offering buyers baking powder as an incentive. The baking powder became more popular, so he started selling it, offering gum as an incentive. But the gum was even more popular, so he started selling that. In 1893, he launched Juicy Fruit Gum. ***** BEST FACEBOOK POST OF THE WEEK: Some people drink deeply from the well of knowledge. Others just rinse and spit. ***** WORD FUN OF THE WEEK: “Sugar” is the only word in the English language where “su-“ makes a “sh” sound. At least, I’m pretty sure that’s right. ***** BEST SIGN SEEN THIS WEEK (seen on the door of a family-owned diner): Sorry, CLOSED. Jack punched Alex because he found out Alex was messing around with Janice, even though Jack and Janice are broke up. Anyway, Alex’ tooth went into the chili, so we can’t open till we find it, ‘cause we can’t throw away all that chili. Sorry, again. ***** BEST BLUESKY POST OF THE WEEK: Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad. Philosophy is wondering if that means ketchup is a smoothie. ***** PUN OF THE WEEK: What happens when a microscope crashes into a telescope? They kaleidoscope! ***** UNANSWERED QUESTION OF THE WEEK: Why has someone from Earth won all 71 “Miss Universe” titles? No one from anywhere else in the universe has ever won. ***** OBSERVATION OF THE WEEK: If you can’t think of a word, just say, “I forgot the English word for it.” That way, people will think you’re bilingual instead of an idiot. ***** QUOTE OF THE WEEK: “The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you never know if they’re genuine.” – Abraham Lincoln ***** FEEL-OLD MOMENTS OF THE WEEK: Superstar actress Meryl Streep turned 76 years old Sunday; and the music legend, Sir Paul McCartney, has turned 83. How ‘bout THIS for feeling old? The terrifying movie “Jaws” was released 50 years ago this week! ***** BEST WEEKEND LIVE ENTERTAINMENT: On Monkey Island, Sundown Entertainment hosts Thursday night karaoke at Doc’s Bar & Grill at Shangri-La (6:00-9:00 p.m.) and Scott Musick performs live Friday night at Doc’s Bar & Grill at Shangri-La. Downbeat will provide the music Saturday night at Eddy’s Lakeside Bar. There’s musical Bingo fun with Sundown Entertainment Wednesday night at The Monkey Bar, and DJ Kennedy with Rockstar Entertainment leads the singing Friday night followed by live music from Robbi Bell Saturday night. Saturday night is “Country Night” at Big Shots on Monkey Island with live music by The Southern Accents Band. In Grove, The Blue Underground will provide the music Friday night at Grand Lake Casino’s Venue 655 followed by Blues Doctors Saturday night. Carl Acuff, Jr. will be on stage Friday night at Cherokee Casino Grove’s 1897 Bar followed by Runnin’ on Empty Saturday night. There’s musical Bingo every Wednesday night and DJ Laidback Larry will provide the musical entertainment Saturday night at R-Bar Dance Hall & Saloon. On South Grand Lake, The Paul Roper Band will kick off the weekend Friday night at Sharky’s at Hammerhead Marina followed by The Steel Roses Band with Travis Bond Saturday night and Brent Giddens Sunday afternoon. Robbie Bell starts the weekend music Wednesday night at Mooney’s Sunset Bar & Grill in Disney followed by B and Ava Thursday night, Hi Fidelics Friday night, The Faulconers Saturday night and The Smith Brothers Band Sunday afternoon (4:00). The Jesse Joice Trio will entertain at Blind Swine Duck Creek Friday night – and Saturday is a really big line-up at the Grand Jam on-the-water concert at Blind Swine Duck Creek/Harbors View Marina (noon-6:00) including Lickitty Split, Randall George & Friends, and Damsel. Mixtape 918 will provide the musical entertainment Saturday night at The Drunken Rooster in Cleora; and The Hype will perform at Hookers at Cherokee Yacht Club Saturday. There are three nights and one afternoon of music this week at Indigo Sky Casino. TJ Scarlett starts the music Thursday night followed The New Waves Friday, and Paralandra Saturday. Michelle Warren will entertain at Indigo Sunday from 11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. Left of Center entertains Saturday night in Riverbend Casino’s Club 60 West; and there are three nights of live entertainment at Downstream Casino’s Legends Sports Bar – The Brothers Moore Thursday night, Bobby DeGonia Friday night, and Coyote Claw Saturday. Cole Swindell will also be in concert Friday night at Downstream’s Pavilion with opening act Easton Corbin. 4 State Searchlight Rental

Owner: Tammie Pennel Established: 2021 In 2021, Tammie Pennel turned a long-held vision into reality by founding 4 State Searchlight Rentals. After spending 15 years contemplating the purchase of a searchlight for her own business, Tammie recognized the promotional hurdles that many businesses face due to the high costs associated with searchlight advertising. From her previous experiences, Tammie understood the immense advertising potential that a searchlight can offer. The moment she installed a searchlight at her business, the excitement was palpable. Within days, the buzz generated by the dazzling light drew attention, and requests to rent it started pouring in. This immediate response revealed a surprising demand for searchlights in the four-state area, one that far exceeded her initial expectations. Encouraged by the remarkable success of her previous ventures, Tammie seized the opportunity to create 4 State Searchlight Rentals. This new business is dedicated to providing affordable searchlight rentals that can elevate any event, product launch, or business promotion.
